Linear drives speed mill/turn centre working
Mill/turn centre with linear motor drives on three axes can perform simultaneous machining with three independent tools and has 36 driven tools on the Y- and C-axes.
The new Sprint 65 linear provides the best combination of productivity and flexibility for parts up to 65mm in diameter. With a standard Y-axis for use on the main and counter spindle and three identical turret heads, this new machine can perform simultaneous machining with three independent tools. This ensures the shortest possible cycle times.
Furthermore, complex parts can be machined with 36 driven tools on the Y- and C-axes.
As its name suggests, this machine also benefits for linear drives in three axes.
DMG first adopted this technology seven years ago and now it is the world's largest machine tool consumer of these drives.
Not only do they ensure high dynamic response with acceleration up to 1G and rapid traverse speeds up to 40m/min, their combination with direct measuring systems ensures exceptional precision.
For example, the run-out is just 4 micron, so the diametric tolerance easily comes under H5.
After machining, the counter spindle transports the part out of the working space, allowing further reductions in idle time and ultimately, unit time.
To minimise downtime, the next bar length is simultaneously fed in as the finish part is ejected.
A conveyor belt handling system is provided as standard with this machine.
Designed to be employed as either a bar or chucking automatic, the Sprint 65 linear can be specified with either a Fanuc 310 i-A control or a Siemens 840D powerline control.
Both complement the speed and precision of this machine with their fast processing times and high data transfer rates.
DMG Programmer 3D Turning software gives the user access to a unique programming and simulation tool that eliminates the collisions arising from programming errors.
Further options include tool wear control and a parallel tool system to boost productivity even further.
