Distinct advantages for sliding head users

The introduction by WNT of the System 3000 series of turning, grooving and parting tools dramatically extends the range of tools available for sliding head lathes. With shank sizes ranging from 8 mm square to 20 mm square, System 3000 is suitable for machining bar up to 32 mm diameter in applications ranging from parting off, front turning, back turning, grooving, side turning and threading. Insert location and security were major influences in the design process and the resultant insert pocket and clamping mechanism ensures reliable and repeatable clamping.

This is due in part to the unique axial insert location with a defined stop and the use of a two screw clamping system.

For even greater ease of use WNT offers its 'combined' style of toolholder; these holders feature a threaded bush system to allow the insert to be clamped through the toolholder - A facility that has advantages when the tool is mounted, facing away from the operator.

Furthermore, the design of the toolholder ensures that there are no shear forces in action and the insert maintains its vertical orientation thanks to the large location face.

Edge security is optimised however, should the first cutting edge be damaged, the second edge can always be used due to the insert design.
