End mills machine graphites, matrices and Kevlar

Highlighting its expertise in the Motorsport industry, ITC cutting tools of Tamworth, UK, will be exhibiting at the autosport show at the Birmingham NEC in January 2007. On stand E479 ITC will exhibit a number of new products that have been successfully implemented in the Motorsport industry. Among the complete range of tooling solutions on offer, ITC will be showing the recently launched 2111, 2102 and the 4081 series of end mills.

An addition to the extremely popular Cyber Series of ITC cutting tools, the cutters are ideal for machining graphite, metal matrix, composites, Kevlar, carbon fibre and additional abrasive materials that are commonly used in the Motorsport industry.

Already comprehensively used with many of the F1 Teams, the 2111 series is a high performance two flute PCD end mill with a solid carbide shank and necking for extra reach.

Each cutter in the range has a length of cut that matches its diameter and a corner radius that sees both attributes combine to provide exceptional strength and rigidity when machining.

Available in 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 16, and 20mm diameters, the new range guarantees long tool life and high productivity.

Also commonly used with a string of top F1 Teams is the 2102 series of PCD ball nosed end mills.

Similar to the 2111, the 2102 Series has a solid carbide shank with PCD brazed tips for enhanced tool life and productivity when machining carbon fibres as used by racing teams.

The solid shank guarantees rigidity under difficult cutting conditions whilst the PCD tips demonstrate tool life beyond that of its competitors.

In the rapid response motorsport industry, the availability of these cutting tools from stock is a major advantage to the end user.

Another product that will be of specific interest to Autosport visitors will be the 4081 series of AlTin coated four flute solid carbide end mills.

This new cutter has a harmonic flute geometry that provides excellent swarf evacuation.

The result of extensive research and development, this single, square end straight shank with right hand helix cutter has a radical unequal flute spacing that reduces machining noise by eliminating the harmonic effect.

Available with or without corner radius, this standard length, centre cutting series can efficiently machine a wide variety of difficult to cut motorsport alloys.

The 4081 series is available in a diameter range from 3 to 32mm with a length of cut ranging from 9 to 60mm.

This addition to the Cyber Series has an overall length from 58 to 160mm with either a square end or a radius up to 4mm dependant upon the selected diameter.

For the machining of graphite and other abrasive materials commonly used in the industry will be the 2071 and 2072 series plus the new 2101 and 2092 series of two flute cutters with a 30 deg helix plus the 4072 series of four flute diamond coated cutters.

The wear resistant micro grain carbide end mills have a 30 deg helix for highly productive cost effective machining.

ITC will also exhibit the exciting new range of Hanita and Metal Removal Products.

With the exception of Hanita products, all cutting tools are manufactured at ITC's state of the art grinding shop in Tamworth.

Company director Peter Graves believes the facility is probably the best equipped in the UK.

ITC operates a workshop that boasts a host of new CNC grinding machines from acknowledged World leaders such as Walter, Schneeberger, Deckel, Rollomatic, and Anca.
