This newrobot series is suitable for highly sensitive production areas.The ESD (Electro Static Device) robot, as its name suggests, isideal for environments where components are developed or used,that would be destroyed by the presence of an electrostaticcurrent. Environments most suited to this futuristic,industry-led robot are the pharmaceutical and medical industriesalong with specialised areas of electronics, such as themanufacture of semi-conductors and computer peripheral devices.Areas, which have not been automated in the past, due to theirhigh sensitivity to static, can now benefit from this model.Highly sensitive heads for hard disk drives provide a goodexample, where the build up of electronic charge could,potentially, destroy them. The ESD robot can remove the high costassociated with carrying out quality checks on every component,thus fulfilling the demands from industry.
These robots preventeven the smallest charges, as with those generated by removing ajumper or walking on a nylon carpet, from being transmitted tothe component.
Through use of special shielded covers the robotachieves its 'zero volt' rating minimising the presenceof electrostatic charge.
Any existing charge present on therobot's surfaces is bled off through a special conductivematerial, thus eliminating dangerous sparking.
