Five machine tools shown for autosports use

Five machine tools that between them are ideally suited to prototype, small batch and volume production work will be the focus of XYZ Machine Tools' stand at the autosport Engineering exhibition. On display at Birmingham's National Exhibition Centre, 13-14 January 2005, will be the XYZ 200 TC turning centre, now available with full c axis and driven tooling, and the groundbreaking XYZ Mini Mill 560. Both machines are equipped with Siemens CNC systems.

Visitors will also be introduced to the new XYZ ProTURN 300 VL lathe as well as the established XYZ SM 1500 variable speed turret mill and XYZ VM 3500 variable speed bed mill.

All three feature the innovative ProtoTRAK control that allows each machine to be operated in manual or computer-controlled mode.

XYZ Machine Tools has customers involved at every level of motorsport - from Formula One teams to specialist sub-contracting companies - and understands the crucial importance of on-time delivery in this sector.

Its range of machines has established an enviable reputation for reliability, although XYZ also lays claim to the most efficient and cost-effective after-sales service and support operation in the UK.

Although the ProtoTRAK-equipped manual/CNC mills and lathes are much in demand, the XYZ Mini Mill 560 is, according to managing director Nigel Atherton, 'probably the best selling vertical machining centre in the UK as an individual model'.

Designed to cater for the widest possible range of components within the smallest machine footprint, the 13HP XYZ Mini Mill 560 has a working envelope of 560mm (X) by 400mm (Y) and 500mm (Z).

It has now been joined by the competitively priced 12kW XYZ 200 TC, the smaller of two turning centres equipped with driven tooling and the easy-to-use Siemens conversational programming system.
