Drawing to 3D piece part in shortest time

The latest addition to the DMG mill-turn machine range allows the user to get from drawing to 3D piece part in the shortest possible time.

The latest addition to the DMG mill-turn machine range allows the user to get from drawing to 3D piece part in the shortest possible time. The GMX 200S linear has been designed to remove any pre-conception that its dual capability makes it unnecessarily complex to programme or operate. This new machine introduces the new Siemens SolutionLine controller with integrated ShopTurn programming, a dedicated mill-turn system that makes the GMX 200S as simple to adopt as a universal lathe.

This control provides a simple choice of cycles and 3D workpiece simulation for all turning and milling operations extending to the B axis contour.

It provides all the graphical 3D support that the machine shop needs for programming a mill-turn machine directly, intuitively and easily.

The ShopTurn feature in particular makes the GMX 200S linear highly productive for medium batches as well as a flexible multi-purpose machining of smaller batch sizes and jobbing work with no restriction on the complexity of the contour detail.

The GMX 200S linear naturally inherits all the advantages of the proven GMX linear series.

A range of standard features combines to provide the performance of a high-end lathe with the concentrated power of a high-tech machining centre.

Features include linear drives, compound Y and B axes slide and highly dynamic milling and turning spindle with 22 kW driving power, 100 Nm torque and speed of 12,000 rpm.

In common with other machines in this series the GMX 200S linear is modular and can therefore be tailored to the customer's individual needs.

The basic chucker model, for example, can be supplied with integrated NC tailstock for machining shafts.

The machine can then be upgraded with the addition of a counter spindle with integrated motor.

This facilitates high-precision six-sided machining thanks to angle- and speed- synchronised workpiece transfer.

A large number of automation options may be specified with the GMX 200S linear including the integration of a portal loader.

Equipped with either an HSK 63A interface or Capto receiver the GMX 200S linear introduces a new, circular 36-tool station magazine whose ergonomic design allows comfortable loading from the front of the machine for a comprehensive range of machining processes.

These extend from basic turning, drilling and milling to deep-hole drilling on chucked workpieces, bars or shaft components.

High precision is assured by absolute direct measuring systems along the linear axes that serve to position the carriages independently of the temperature.

The inclusion of glass scales eliminates the need for time-consuming reference point positioning.

Programming is via the DMG ControlPanel with 15' TFT-screen and naturally the GMX 200S is fully compatible with the full suite of DMG Powertools support software and DMG Netservice.
