Turning centres are competitively priced

XYZ Machine Tools is launching a range of competitively priced turning centres, designed for profitable mass production, to complement its range of Proturn lathes. From the proven Vulcan stable, all the Siemens controlled turning centres have a high build quality. Typically of XYZ machines, the turning centres are capable of versatile, efficient machining which, for limited capital investment, will provide profitable production to the user.
Machine longevity and high performance is assured, even for users undertaking intermittent cutting and/or machining castings, by the rigid cast iron structure, strong box slideways, and over-sized servo motors.
The automatic tool setting probe, standard on all three sizes of machine, is capable of setting up to 12 tools in less than five minutes, significantly improving productivity and can be used for lights-out manufacturing to check for tool wear and breakage.
The turning centres are being offered ex-stock, ensuring swift delivery, installation and commissioning.
Unlike most turning centres, the 12 station VDI turret, power chuck, parts catcher, toolsetting probe, swarf conveyor and software are provided within the standard package.
On the two larger turning centres, the Vulcan 200 and the Vulcan 250, a programmable tail stock is also provided as standard.
The smallest machine, the Vulcan 150, is provided with a manual tailstock as standard with a programmable tailstock as an option.
A bar feed is offered as an option.
The Vulcan turning centres all boast the popular Siemens Shopturn control, which is easily programmable on the shop floor using English conversational programming, and provides a massive 1.2Mb memory.
Canned cycles allow the operator to produce stock removal cycles, drilling, threading and grooving programmes quickly and simply from blueprint drawings.
High quality graphics are provided by the colour screen monitor.
As with other XYZ machines, a two-day training course for two operators is provided free of charge at the XYZ factory in Tiverton.
A 1 year warranty is provided as standard, with a 7 year warranty and collision damage insurance offered as an option.
A standard tooling package, designed to assist companies' first venture into turning centres, is available.
It includes a commonly-used selection of radial, part off blade, axial, U-drill and boring bar holders, ER32 collect chucks, boring bushes, ER32 collets, a wrench, a bench stand, a collet rack and 12 plastic pots.
Smallest of the range is the Vulcan 150, which has a maximum swing of 420mm, maximum turning diameter of 200mm, X axis travel of 180mm and Z axis travel of 370mm.
The spindle motor is 9/12kW (continuous/30 min rating).
The Vulcan 200 has a maximum swing of 550mm, maximum turning diameter of 250mm, X axis travel of 220mm and Z axis travel of 650mm.
The spindle motor is 12/16kW (continuous/30 min rating).
Largest machine in the range is the Vulcan 250, with a maximum swing of 550mm, maximum turned diameter of 250mm, X axis travel of 220mm and Z axis travel of 650mm.
